Mazda has a reputation for making affordable cars and SUVs that deliver engaging performance and high-quality interiors. The 2023 CX-5 is no exception to this rule. It has arguably the best all-around performance in the compact SUV class and a cabin that is near-luxury in higher trims. Combine these positives with a robust list of standard safety and comfort features and it represents a great value, which is why we named it our 2023 Best Compact SUV for the Money. I enjoyed my week driving the 2023 CX-5 2.5 Signature, but there are two areas where it came up short. The CX-5’s infotainment system lacks a touch screen and is controlled with a rotary knob. This controller was frustrating and distracting to use throughout my week with the SUV, as apps like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are designed for touch controls.
